In recent years we ve seen new businesse come into the Bismarck-Mandan area to improve the economy What sometimes goes unnoticed are the existing businesses who also expand to drive the economy even further In this weeks edition of Around Town Brad Feldman shows us how some changes in Bismarck will bring more to the economy Open Its something you feel right away Sound These new railroad tracks on east main in Bismarck just north of the state penitentary will serve two purposes It will give access to the Northern Plains Commerce Centre and Blue Flint ethanol The cars that use the track will be hauling Corn and ethanol to and from the Blue Flint Ethanol plant near Underwood Dennis Ming with Dakota Missouri Valley and Western Railroad says the project will bring some economic impact to the area Dennis Ming DMVW ten years ago we probably moved four hundred cars through the Bismarck area now we will move close to five thousand transition The old Soo Hotel building in downtown Bismarck is getting a face lift The Building Restoration Corporation out of Minneapolis will be spending the next few weeks fixing the exterior look of the building Chris Sachs says what happens overtime is the mortar that holds the bricks together breaks away and water gets into the foundation He says restoring these kinds of buildings are important to a communities downtown Chris Sachs Building Restoration Corporation downtown across the US right now its a happening place in many areas You know communities are trying to revitalize it bring more merchants into downtown Sachs says they are talking with other businesses in Bismarck and Mandan about working on their buildings transition Brides By Maxine at 409 north fourth street in downtown Bismarck will have a new owner Jollene Fettig will be taking over the shop on the 31st of October The early plan is to keep the bridal store the same way it is today Taking You Around Town I m Brad Feldman If you have any business news you want people to know about you can call Brad at 355-9103
