Farmers attempt to grow hemp

North Dakota farmers Dave Monson and Wayne Hauge HOW -ghee say they have a right to grow industrial hemp under state regulations and they re suing the federal government But Justice Department lawyers say the farmers have no more standing to sue than someone who wants to use drugs recreationally That s because the government considers hemp to be the same as its cousin marijuana Tim Purdon the attorney for the farmers says North Dakota lawmakers have passed a law specifically allowing farmers in the state to grow industrial hemp The farmers want a federal judge in Bismarck to rule in their favor without a trial Arguments are scheduled November 14th
